50 Shades of Grey: Party Game.
In summer last year, E L James’ “50 Shades of Grey” hit the bookshelves. Even author Erika Leonard wasn’t expecting its impact. Questions of taste and acceptability came to the forefront of the media while woman over the world were being transported into the erotic mind of Christian Grey.
With a completed trilogy and imminent film on the horizon, it was only a matter of time before 50 shades transcended another form… this time gaming.
While we can only hope for an E3 announcement of a next gen video game (preferably compatible with the upcoming Oculus Rift VR headset). Allow me to introduce to you the 50 Shades of Grey: Party Game.
Now you might know your friends have your back in multi-player and always happy to hand over a med kit. But with all the talk of strategy, how well do you really know each other. This is what 50 Shades is going to task you with. To win, you have to be able to know your friends minds and match their answers to over 300 intermit questions.
Before play starts, all players contribute to a list of 8 girlfriends names, with only 2 rules dictating this. Firstly, all players must know each name and secondly, if you’re to put yourself down then all players names MUST go in. This list becomes known as “Submissive of Christian Grey”
As each question is asked, all players secretly write down their selected girlfriend from the list of submissive. Once everyone has shown their answers (and for the most part explained why), those who matched the player who’s turn it was to ask the question, scores a point.
It is worth mentioning at this point that the questions contained within the starter package are all “vanilla” questions, such as “Which friend is most likely to fall head over heels in love at first sight”, “which girlfriend would be most likely to have their own blindfold in their handbag” and “which girlfriend would never talk dirty to a lover”.
There is an option for all players to submit a number of anonymous questions prior to the start of the game which are bound to create a stir. But if this isn’t quite enough, there is an option of purchasing the question expansion set “Red Room Edition” (only for the brave). For those who worry about possible repercussions, within the box is a number of pre-arranged Non Disclosure Agreements which all players sign and date. Although no expert, I can’t be sure if they are submittable as evidence in a court of law.
Overall, 50 Shades of Grey: Party game is built for a through and through Midwife Gamer. With the “safety” of the NDA, the conversations that some of the questions can lead to is certainly interesting and is perfect for Hen nights or baby showers. However this might not be the best game to break out if you are not in the company of your best friends.
